Qatar Charity foundation holds a developmental conference in support of Palestinian people

Yesterday morning, Wednesday 8 March 2017 saw the opening of the Humanitarian and Developmental Forum for Palestine in the capital Doha. This conference was organized by Qatar Charity Foundation with the participation of 75 local and international organizations aiming to organize efforts and implement developmental initiatives to aid Palestine. The conference ? which convened for two days in the Western Hotel ? included a number of seminars and technical workshops seeking to personify the humanitarian and developmental reality of the Palestinians. The seminars sought the best ways to support the Palestinians and offered opportunities for co-ordination and partnerships between different supporters of the Palestinians.

The chief executive of Qatar Charity that the organization made this conference an annual occurrence uniting all parties concerned with humanitarian and developmental work in Palestine to support the Palestinian people. It also provides solutions which help its resistance and provides for its needs. Yusuf Kawary added in his welcome speech that this conference aims to implement initiatives with world participation so that the Palestinians may attain their legal human rights. From his side, the general director of Qatar Fund for Development (Master of Ceremonies) said that all support presented by Qatar through the Fund alone amounted to 810 million dollars in the past 5 years.

Khalifah Kuwari added: ?We are today in dire need for a platform whereupon all those concerned with developmental and humanitarian issues in Palestine can meet. This is to exchange information and ideas and seek effective solutions to serve development in Palestine and answer to the humanitarian needs of the Palestinians during crises and tribulations?. Assistant secretary general for humanitarian affairs of Islamic Aid Foundation said that it was never expected that one day the concern of the Arabs and the Muslims will return to the Palestinian issue or that they will review their priorities as we are seeing today, with the appearance of other challenges in Syria and Yemen, and including the famine threat in four countries: Yemen, Nigeria, Somalia and South Sudan. Ambassador Hisham Yusuf confirmed the bad humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip mentioning United Nations statistics that the strip will become unliveable in 2020, due to 95% of the water being undrinkable and the spread of unemployment in the Strip, making it highly needy of humanitarian aid.

He also indicated that despite the generosity and support that the Palestinian cause has won over the past decades, ?we have not been able to, up till now, find an effective unified way to exchange information and activate aid for the Palestinian people.? The sponsor organizations for the conference were honoured during the opening ceremony. They being: Qatar Fund for Development, the office of the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs under the United Nations, United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Islamic Aid Foundation, United Nations Development Programme in Palestine, ?Doctors without Borders? organization and Palestine-Aid Society.
