The Palestinian Health Ministry announced the launch of a project to fund emergency cases in Palestine next week. This is through the support of the Japanese government with an amount of one million dollars.

This comes during a meeting convened by the Health Minister, Dr. Jawwad Awwad, with the Japanese ambassador to Palestine, Mr. Takeshi Okubo, and the head of the Japanese Agency of International Cooperation (JICA), Mrs. Sanu Yuku, in the Minister's office in Ramallah.

The launch of the project was agreed upon and the two parties will sign a joint agreement to implement the project during the next few days.

Minister Awwad outlined the current health situation and the efforts exerted by the Ministry to fulfil the needs of the health sector. This is despite the barriers it faces, the greatest of which is the Israeli occupation.

The health minister praised the historic relationship between the two countries, expressing his deep gratitude to the Japanese government and people for their support of Palestine in all political, economic and health sectors.

For his part, the Japanese ambassador expressed his appreciation for the pioneering role played by the health ministry and its cadres in providing treatment to the citizens. He also mentioned the great achievements by the health sector and the real, tangible developments.

Through this project, cancer drugs, various antibiotics and medical equipment will be provided to a number of government hospitals in the north and south, depending on the medical needs and advice of the health ministry.
