Health Ministry appeals for the provision of immunotherapy for cancer patients

Dr. Muhammad Abu Salmiyyah, head of Abdul Aziz Rantissi Children's Hospital, appealed for the provision of the drug Filgrastim which aids in boosting the immunity of cancer patients. He said that this drug is the essential for the implemention of chemotherapy for cancer patients.
Abu Salmiyyah explained that part of chemotherapy's side effects is the severe decrease in immunity, such that the patient becomes exposed to any life-threatening bacterial infection. Most of the treatment protocols require this drug and chemotherapy is not administered without it.
Abu Salmiyyah warned of the cessation of more than 70% of oncology treatment protocols for patients suffering from colon cancer, lymphoma and breast cancer in Gaza. This threatens to cause a deterioration in the cancer patient's health condition
