The Poor Patient Fund participates in the Support the Palestinian Health Sector Conference held in Beirut

Charity Fund – Darul Fatwa in Lebanon arranged a conference to support the Health sector in Palestine under the slogan “The Pulse will never stop”. The conference was held in Beirut over two days: Thursday and Friday 19-20 April under the auspices of the honourable Sheikh Abdul Latif Daryan, grand mufti of Lebanon. It was held in conjunction with the World Medical Association (Medics) and the Turkish Gazze Destek Association supported by Barakah Charity and Humanitarian Association in Algeria.

Approximately 300 individuals attended the conference from 21 countries, representing more than 80 organisations from all corners of the globe. Dr. Malik Abou Rageileh, general director of PIMA and the Middle East representative for Gift of the Givers Foundation – South Africa, represented the Poor Patient Fund. He presented a paper on the success stories and experiences of medical aid in Palestine. The conference explored the role of humanitarian organisations in supporting the Health Sector and preventing its acute and dangerous breakdown in Palestine, and especially in Gaza.

The conference ended with an agreement of understanding between the Charity Fund and a number of specialist organisations participating in the conference. The chairman of the Board of Trustees of Charity Fund, Sheikh Zuhair Kuby, read out the final recommendations of the conference, which were as follows:

Expression of thanks and appreciation to Lebanon and Darul Fatwa for sponsoring the conference in Beirut.

Expression of thanks to the individuals and organisations who participated in the conference and financially supported the health projects that were displayed therein.

Renewal of the commitment of the participants in supporting the Health Sector in Palestine, and especially in Gaza, and to make every possible effort to fulfil and provide the medical needs of the Palestinian people.
